Once a famous idol in the land of Kim Chi, Somyi unexpectedly shifted to being a streamer in 2021. Her target audience is single men, as she easily attracts attention with content that leans towards sensitive topics. She wears provocative outfits to capture the interest of online users.

At that time, she sparked considerable controversy and criticism. Before firmly pursuing this career, she had briefly tried her hand at part-time modeling in shopping malls, beauty modeling, and even worked as a café staff member, but her income was insufficient to support her living expenses.

After her first year of trying, Ahn Somyi shared that she faced a lot of criticism and many malicious comments because she was once an idol. During several broadcasts, she revealed her difficult life, not only facing financial struggles but also dealing with psychological obstacles. The female streamer stated that she suffers from anxiety disorder and panic disorder. She experiences continuous insomnia, only able to sleep 12 to 16 hours when taking medication. Nevertheless, she does not allow herself to rest:
“I will not have any income if I stop live streaming. That is a bond I cannot escape from. I always feel that if I happen to collapse, my entire family will also come to an end.”

It is unclear whether it was due to psychological issues, but she recently made an unacceptable move. Specifically, she accused a CEO of “sensitive” and “crossing boundaries” behavior towards her in the office. However, camera footage showed that the man did not act as alleged. On the contrary, the evidence placed the female streamer in an embarrassing position, as she was the one who hugged the CEO. Based on these details, she was sentenced to 18 months in prison for defamation.
