Recently, the online community in China has been buzzing about the name Tiao Yueguang as during a livestream, this famous streamer publicly “bad-mouthed” her viewers for not donating (supporting financially). This action immediately sparked controversy and created a wave of mixed reactions on social media platforms.

With a pleasant face and a beautiful figure, Tiao Yueguang is loved by many internet users. However, in the current fierce competition among streamers, this attractive girl took a break to research a new direction for her future. It seems that after not finding a suitable path, she recently returned to her old job after a few months.

In her first livestream back, she shared about the difficulties in the field. Yueguang mentioned that she was considering trying her luck on other streaming platforms like TikTok to seek new opportunities and expand her name as well as influence. Having had some experience, the female streamer lamented:
“I have the impression that the viewers there are very stingy. It seems that many people entered the livestream room, and then everyone just stared at each other. The number of people gifting me is pitifully low. Even if you are famous, if you don’t get donations, it’s all for nothing. I don’t stream to serve for free.”

Many people believe that the female streamer has shown an “arrogant” attitude towards her audience and forgot that most viewers come from various backgrounds, not everyone is financially able to support her. A portion of netizens criticized her harshly:
“Watching a stream is the viewer’s right. Not donating doesn’t mean they don’t support;”
“She makes a living as a streamer but looks down on those who support her, which is unacceptable;”
“Perhaps the reason you don’t receive donations is that your content isn’t convincing enough to viewers…”
In reality, the pressure of competition for female streamers today is very high. Just having a good appearance without talent, intelligence, or engaging interaction makes it very difficult to retain viewers, let alone receive donations.

This incident once again raises a significant question about the boundary between rights and obligations in the relationship between content creators and viewers. Donations are a voluntary right, and excessive expectations from streamers can backfire, especially when accompanied by a dismissive attitude towards the audience.
