The night market, a distinctive cultural feature, is where the colorful world of food and fashion converges. Amidst the bustling crowd, the dazzling lights from the stalls and the alluring aroma of food, an image has stirred public opinion. A young girl selling at the night market has become the center of attention and controversy simply due to her “minimal clothing” and shocking outfit.
The image of the young girl, in her twenties, standing at the night market in her “cool” outfit quickly spread across social media. Besides her swift cooking skills, what attracted more attention was her outfit. She wore extremely short, tight-fitting pants and a revealing crop top, exposing much of her body. This attire was completely different from other vendors, who typically opt for more modest and comfortable clothing for convenience.
Initially, many people were merely curious, taking photos and sharing her image. But within a short time, photos and videos of the girl exploded online, leading to a wave of controversy. One side condemned her harshly. They argued that her clothing was inappropriate, lacking in culture, and unacceptable.
“I really don’t want to go to a place like this”;
“The night market is too competitive”;
“She must be trying to attract customers intentionally”…

Conversely, another group defended the girl. They argued that this is each individual’s personal freedom. They also pointed out that in today’s era, the line between “cool” and “offensive” can sometimes be very blurred and depends on personal perspectives. Moreover, wearing “minimal clothing” can be a strategy to attract attention, especially in a competitive environment like the night market.

In fact, the phenomenon of girls intentionally dressing provocatively is not new; at times, it has become a sales tactic for many women to attract customer attention. However, this remains a highly controversial issue. In the past, a girl selling rice paper in Vietnam also faced significant backlash for her minimal outfit.
