According to Wahana News from Indonesia, young man A.K (26 years old) was recently arrested by the police at a hotel in Dongchikarang, West Java, Indonesia on charges of trafficking and forcing his girlfriend into prostitution at least 17 times to make money.
The police stated that A.K lured his girlfriend, whose initials are D.A.A (25 years old), into prostitution by promising her marriage but used the excuse of “not having money for the wedding” to persuade her.

A.K exploited his girlfriend to make money by introducing her for prostitution through dating apps to other men. Each time he acted as a broker, A.K received 500,000 rupiah (approximately 800,000 VND) and was ready to threaten or assault her if she refused to comply with his demands.
The two began their romantic relationship about 6 months ago, but the coercive and threatening behavior only intensified over the last 2 months. In total, A.K forced his girlfriend into prostitution at least 17 times.
Unable to withstand the violence and psychological pressure from her boyfriend, the victim finally mustered the courage to report A.K to the authorities. Shortly after, the police arrested A.K and seized his mobile phone along with all the message contents from the dating app as evidence.
“Our officers posed as customers on the app that the suspect used. A.K’s motive was to prepare money for the wedding. However, the suspect’s method was to exploit his girlfriend for profit,” said police chief AKP Sugiharto.
During the investigation, A.K claimed that his girlfriend had agreed to the proposal for prostitution, but the victim firmly denied this. The young man is currently under investigation for assault and trafficking. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of 1 year and 4 months in prison.
