Maternal love is always the most sacred thing for humans as well as any other animal. The affection that a mother has for her child is considered the purest and most innocent, and this love remains beautiful when expressed by humans or any other animal. Recently, an image of a little dog lying next to the remains of its mother, which is almost just a skeleton, has moved netizens about maternal love: “Surely when the mother dog was alive, her pup was well protected.”

The image of the frail little dog with a sad face and eyes directed at the remains of a much larger dog leads netizens to reflect. It is hard to guess how long the dog has been dead, leaving only a dry skeleton and some fur remaining on a few parts. What could have caused its death like that under the clear blue sky? Could the little dog nestled beside it be its offspring? The sad eyes of the little dog perhaps partly answer this question.
This skeleton could very well belong to the mother dog, and the puppy cannot forget its mother’s warmth and stays nearby. Netizens seem to feel the maternal bond even though they only see one lonely living creature beside the dry remains of its kind.

According to sources, the image of the dog lying next to the remains was taken by a photographer from Xinhua News Agency in China while he was exploring a mountainous region in Tibet. The context of the photograph reveals that the little dog was searching for food around and returned to the remains believed to be its mother. The photo was published in 2017 and received significant attention. Many people criticized the photographer for not rescuing the little dog and taking it to care for. However, the photographer shared that he made efforts to return to look for it after taking the photo but lost track of the little dog.

“The spirit of the mother dog will guide it to survive, overcoming challenges to mature more and more.”
“If the little dog can find food on its own for many days, it wouldn’t be surprising if it can survive without its mother.”
“If I were the photographer, I would approach to rescue it instead of just standing there taking pictures.”
“The little dog does not leave its mother even though all that is left are dry bones; indeed, maternal love is present anywhere.”
