With the Covid-19 pandemic evolving extremely complexly globally, especially in Italy and Spain, which are among the hardest-hit areas in Europe. Therefore, the authorities in these countries have announced measures to close public areas and prohibit gatherings. Spain has implemented a lockdown for 46 million citizens as part of a 15-day state of emergency to combat the coronavirus.

However, recently, according to TeleMadrid, the police in Madrid, while carrying out their duty to enforce the city’s lockdown, unexpectedly arrested a gamer for defying the ban and rushing outside to catch Pokemon GO last Sunday. What’s even more surprising is that this gamer is…77 years old, a demographic that is most severely affected by the new virus strain.
On the following Monday, police in Madrid shared an image of this “special” ticket on Twitter. It is known that this ‘senior’ gamer was arrested at 1:30 PM on Sunday for going out to stroll while also “hustling” to catch Pokemon in the Pokemon GO game.

This is truly a laughable and tragic situation, even for the police enforcing this fine. The Madrid police also warned the public, especially Pokemon GO players, not to go outside during this time. As of Wednesday, Spain reported more deaths due to Covid-19.
It is known that the population of Spain is about 46 million people. Spanish officials announced a plan to close the country for two weeks on March 14. Everyone must reduce their outings except for essential work, hospital visits, banks, supermarkets, and pharmacies. On Sunday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez stated he hoped to extend the city’s lockdown until April 11, and is currently awaiting parliament approval.
The case of the 77-year-old gamer mentioned above serves as a wake-up call for everyone, emphasizing the need to protect their health during these extremely dangerous and complex times of the pandemic.
