Hello everyone, to cater to the need for human connection and community bonding through gaming during these tough days of isolation, I’ve prepared a list of co-op games, which means games that can be played with friends and have low system requirements so that anyone can join in. I made a list like this before, and since it seemed popular, I’m back with another list of games that I find the best. Feel free to check it out!
PUMMEL PARTY
Pummel Party is a multi-genre co-op game developed and published by Rebuilt Games, first released on Steam in late 2018, and is rated “very positive” by players on Steam.
Just hearing “multi-genre” sounds fun, right? Pummel Party allows you to team up with 4 to 8 players and choose from hundreds of mini-games available in the game to battle together. There are racing, shooting, board games, strategy games, and particularly, the indie style brings very creative gameplay with an incredibly rich content. Personally, I love the tail-whacking game; it’s already difficult enough, but now they added trains passing by and meteors falling. It’s definitely a great game for connecting friendships while also having the potential to destroy them!

OVERCOOKED 2
Developed by Team 17 Digital with help from Ghost Town Games, Overcooked 2 offers an incredibly engaging and captivating co-op cooking experience. The game is currently rated “very positive” on Steam, making it a great choice.
Cooking alone is too simple; now cooking with a team is a real challenge. In Overcooked 2, you will experience chaotic gameplay with many tasks happening simultaneously because there are 4 different chefs in the kitchen doing various jobs. The task for these 4 players is to divide the work and cook according to requests within a time limit. The game allows players to freely manage and organize the kitchen system, and if things get too hectic, player 1 can throw ingredients straight to player 4, but missing could lead to trouble!

GARRY’S MOD
Garry’s Mod is a game of… I don’t know, developed by Facepunch Studios and published by Valve, rated “super positive” on Steam.

I say I don’t know because Garry’s Mod allows players to create their own fun in the game. The game offers building tools, materials, items, and even characters and weapons from other games. All you need to do is be creative; you can build a large house and split into two teams to battle, or create a murder mystery scene for your friends to solve. In short, there are no limits; it’s multi-genre all the way!

KEEP TALKING AND NOBODY EXPLODES
The puzzle game Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes was developed and published by Steel Crate Games, rated “super positive” and is one of my top 3 favorite games on this list.
The gameplay of Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is very simple; you will be placed in a room alone with a ticking bomb. The other players are outside, holding the bomb defusal manual. Their job is to defuse the bomb while you act as their eyes and ears; if you defuse correctly, great, but if you mess up…

RISK OF RAIN 2
Risk of Rain is back and better than ever, a third-person shooter with engaging co-op features developed by Hopoo Games and published by Gearbox Publishing, rated “super positive” and is also free this weekend!
With stunning shooting mechanics, beautiful No Man’s Sky-style graphics, and a light game size, alongside randomly generated worlds and giant bosses, it’s definitely a game that will make you want to invite your friends to join in! Risk of Rain 1 already gave you a lot of emotions, and part 2 returns with more maps, more weapons, and more bosses, ensuring that you and your friends will have a blast all day long.

CUPHEAD
The extremely challenging platformer developed and published by Studio MDHR Entertainment, rated “super positive” on Steam, is ready for you and your friends to experience.
In Cuphead, you’ll enjoy a fast-paced game with a classic platforming style and classic graphics, mainly focused on boss fights, and of course, the atmosphere in the game is very impressive and captivating. Classic games always pique the curiosity of modern gamers like us. Cuphead is famous for its extreme difficulty; as you know, getting hit means you die, and dying means you have to restart. It can be frustrating, but if you have teammates to support, it can be quite enjoyable!

TERRARIA
Developed and published by Re-Logic, it is currently rated “super positive” and also has a pack of 4 games available at a discounted price for you to share with friends.
Terraria is a co-op game that allows you and your friends to dig deep underground to find rare materials for crafting weapons to fight against evil. The gameplay of Terraria is what makes this game highly rated; it’s a platformer that combines mouse and keyboard controls, where the mouse is for shooting and the keyboard is for moving, and not many games use this mechanic as well as Terraria. Additionally, you get to experience a randomly generated world and free DLC, making it definitely worth buying!

STARDEW VALLEY
The famous farming game developed and published by ConcernedApe, rated “super positive,” is definitely an interesting choice for you and your friends.
Your task is to take over the farm left by your grandfather and develop it better. This is not easy if you don’t have friends to help; one person can fish, another can plant vegetables, and another can till the soil while someone else feeds the cows. In short, there are all kinds of roles, and you can assign tasks to each other as if the whole group owns a real farm. Watching the farm gradually develop, with trees growing around the house and pigs giving birth to piglets, would surely be fun, right? So why wait? Get it now and experience it!

PORTAL 1, 2
As one of Valve’s most successful games, the puzzle game Portal 1 and 2 is also a reasonable choice and, of course, has been rated “super positive” on Steam.
This game has a unique gameplay mechanism, where you are equipped with a special gun capable of opening dimensional portals to help you navigate challenging terrains. Additionally, the game has an engaging storyline and co-op features that make solving puzzles easier. Both parts 1 and 2 will provide mind-bending yet captivating experiences for you and your friends. And don’t worry, although the graphics look top-notch, the system requirements aren’t high, so feel free to buy the game.

STARCRAFT CLASSIC
After a lot of Steam titles, let’s switch to Blizzard with Starcraft Classic, a game that is already very familiar to everyone and is now free on Battlenet, so why not jump in?
While you may not experience stunning graphics, the high-quality gameplay of Starcraft remains intact after all these years. So, call up your old friends, jump in for some nostalgic fun with this childhood game, and relive the joys you may have forgotten. Times are tough, so you have plenty of time to play; who knows, you might get hooked for the entire season!

These were some games that you can play co-op with friends without needing a high-end machine. Of course, there are still many exciting games that I haven’t listed here, so feel free to comment below with your favorite games for us to check out!
