“Crossing the line” remarks while Faker is being praised
The League of Legends community was recently stirred up when famous Chinese streamer Mina made a surprising sensitive remark about legendary player Lee Sang-hyeok – Faker. During a livestream on the evening of November 6, while discussing T1’s consecutive victories, Mina unexpectedly said: “Faker is already 30, what does he not know about the ‘taste of life’?”

This personal and disrespectful statement immediately spread like wildfire. Thousands of angry comments appeared on social media, criticizing Mina for exploiting Faker’s name to create drama and increase interaction.

Many believe that while Faker is being hailed as a symbol of dedication, professionalism, and humility, Mina’s actions are nothing short of slandering the image of an exemplary esports athlete, while also lowering the ethical standards of being a streamer.
When the quest for views surpasses ethical boundaries
At 30 years old, Faker remains an icon in Korean esports. He is known for his discreet lifestyle, free from scandals, and focuses entirely on competition. Therefore, a streamer attaching sensitive comments about his personal life is viewed as extremely distasteful and uncultured.

Both the Korean and Chinese online communities have voiced their criticism of Mina. Many believe she is “selling her respect for views”, even intentionally trying to shock to attract new viewers. Some harsh comments read: “Streamers should use their talent, not their words”; “Don’t turn someone else’s success into cheap entertainment.”

It should be noted that Faker has never responded or commented on rumors surrounding his personal life. This only adds to his fans’ admiration for his calmness and professionalism. In contrast, Mina’s remarks are becoming a typical negative example of a distorted trend. The act of “joking for fun” but hurting others cannot be considered harmless humor.
