Therefore, I decided to create an additional list for 2020, adding a few games that you love along with some extremely attractive newly released titles. Check them out to have games to play during the pandemic!
DESTINY 2
Destiny 2 should be familiar to you by now, right? A brilliant loot shooter with graphics that are hard to fault for a free game is definitely an excellent choice for those who love shooting games and enjoy addictive grinding mechanics. This game is developed by the famous Bungie, known for their great “masterpieces” like Halo, along with years of experience in creating space-themed shooters. There’s no need to elaborate on the experience, detail, or appeal of Destiny 2. Although it’s been on the market for nearly three years, I still rate this game as having very high-quality graphics. The DLC is continuously updated, keeping players from getting bored with repetitive missions. With all these advantages, Destiny 2 certainly deserves a spot on the list of free games with impressive graphics in 2020, right?
DOTA 2
People think that MOBA games will always last forever, but in reality, there are many great MOBA titles that still can’t stand firm in the market. However, the brand representative for MOBA games, Dota 2, is probably one of the exceptions that everyone thinks about when mentioning MOBA games. With over 400 thousand daily players, Dota 2 still dominates the MOBA genre on Steam, likely second only to League of Legends worldwide. The quality of the game remains high, but what about the graphics? Personally, I still find Dota 2 to be the highest quality MOBA game. Of course, there have been a few new MOBA games released recently, but among the top popular MOBA titles, there is probably no game that can compare to Dota 2’s graphics. Therefore, Dota 2 remains one of the most worthwhile free games to try, and if you’ve heard of Dota 2 but haven’t tried it yet, it’s not too late because the game is still excellent.
WARFRAME
Previously, I mentioned that this game won’t bore you; it only fears that you won’t have enough time to grind, and it still holds true now. Warframe, compared to Destiny 2, has fewer players, but when playing Warframe, I feel it has that “true” loot game vibe. Because after missions, I feel that the loot given to players is more “generous” compared to Destiny 2, making the gaming experience feel much more rewarding. Since both games are free, I play both games simultaneously; if I want shooting and a DOOM-like experience, I switch to Destiny 2; if I prefer slashing and shooting with a bow and arrow, I go back to Warframe. Both games are attractive, and I’m sure any gamer will enjoy them equally.
APEX LEGENDS
Although battle royale games are now abundant with many styles, Apex Legends is still a game that must be mentioned in the free games collection. The graphics were once top-notch in the genre, and the gameplay is revolutionary, introducing new mechanics that had never appeared in battle royale before. Honestly, since Apex Legends launched, I couldn’t believe it was a free game. The quality of free games continues to improve. Many gamers in Vietnam may think that Apex is no longer attractive and is dwindling, but in reality, Apex is still very popular and has many exciting updates with new characters. So, if you’ve played this game before, give it another try; if you haven’t, oh boy, I guarantee it will be extremely impressive.
WORLD OF TANK
A combination of tank shooting, beautiful graphics, and free-to-play is a perfect combo for those who love war games full of explosions. World of Tanks will provide you with the experience of controlling tanks that are accurately modeled after real life, with realistic controls, and of course, the graphics must be top-notch to make it on this list. You can grind in-game currency to acquire new, better tanks that run faster, have stronger armor, and deal more damage, and so on. What are you waiting for? Call your friends right away, set up a powerful tank squad, and start dominating the world!
WORLD OF WARSHIPS
Developed by Wargaming, World of Warships shares similarities with World of Tanks. The graphics remain top-notch, and you experience gameplay optimized for realism, allowing you to pilot large warships as realistically as possible. If World of Tanks offers a powerful, explosive experience, then World of Warships is a bit more strategic. You will need to choose your position more carefully since there’s no cover, aiming is more difficult, and it requires good skill from players. Overall, this is a high-quality free game, with realistic and attractive gameplay, making it a game you’ll likely enjoy playing daily for an extended time.
SMITE
A fresh breeze for the eSports genre, the game Smite allows you to experience MOBA gameplay from a third-person perspective, a type of gameplay that a few years ago only existed in the imagination of MOBA enthusiasts. In the game, you’ll experience various heroes, each with specific roles like support, mid, carry, etc. The game features graphics similar to Overwatch but with a mythological twist. The combat experience is much faster-paced compared to the top-down view, requiring much more accuracy and reflexes. It will definitely offer a challenging yet captivating experience that you shouldn’t miss.
EVE ONLINE
With a diverse and complex gameplay experience, the feeling of managing a fleet of spaceships along with many exciting features such as mining, production, trading, and combat, you also get to enjoy extremely high-quality graphics in Eve Online. To become a master of Eve Online, you’ll need to be a politician in space, managing economics, politics, and your fleet’s military. Build a small empire in the universe and interact with thousands of other players in this vast cosmos. It’s a game that’s not easy to access, so if you think you’re up for the challenge, have good management skills, and know how to research the game, give Eve Online a try; it’s challenging but highly addictive if you know how to play it.
TERA
Here’s a free version of World of Warcraft… just kidding, it can’t compare to WoW, but the graphics are still up for debate. Since Tera was released in 2012, its graphics have developed more than World of Warcraft. Moreover, I find the gameplay has many similarities, only falling short in the detailed and engaging world of Warcraft. This third-person MMORPG from Bluehole Studio also provides a very addictive grinding experience, an extensive and visually stunning skill system, and bosses larger than the screen. In general, if you love MMO games and want to experience quality graphics from a third-person perspective for free, Tera is the best option.
CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE
No doubt about it, CoD: Warzone is undoubtedly the best-looking free game on this list. Simply because it uses the graphics of CoD: Modern Warfare, it has to be top-notch. Essentially, Warzone is a free mode of Modern Warfare, so not only does it inherit the graphics, but you also get to experience the pacing and gameplay of Modern Warfare. The game also introduces new features to the battle royale genre, elevating the quality of free games, and most importantly, bringing the Call of Duty experience to everyone. However, it’s not accessible to everyone since this game is quite demanding, and not every machine can run it well. In general, if a free game is this good, we can hope for even better free games in the future, just like Warzone.
BONUS: NEVERWINTER
Neverwinter competes with Tera; its graphics are also quality, but personally, I think its skill set isn’t as good as Tera, so it goes into the Bonus category. Overall, it’s still a game worth playing, with very engaging combat and an intriguing Middle Eastern mythological storyline. Playing both Tera and Neverwinter is enjoyable, and I encourage you to download both to see which one you prefer; personally, I still prefer Tera.
PLANETSIDE 2
First-person shooting, piloting, and a futuristic sci-fi setting are what Planetside 2 will bring to you. Moreover, you will get to experience visually stunning graphics that can still be considered high quality in 2020. With the update for flying, the game offers a more strategic experience for players, and of course, the massive combat experience can accommodate hundreds or thousands of players in one match, surely overwhelming you with the sheer scale of this game.
BLADE AND SOUL
Blade and Soul has been available in Vietnam for a long time; although it has not maintained its original position, this is a game that you may not be into, but if you are, it’s extremely engaging. Flying, combat, slashing, and using skills in Blade and Soul is just that high quality. Although the graphic update for this game has not been seen yet, once applied, you will get to experience an exciting MMORPG gameplay with the stunning 2020 graphics.
STAY OUT
The survival game Stay Out, which was previously on the list, has had to make way for some fresher faces, but it is still a decent choice in the list of free games with outstanding graphics. The survival gameplay of Stay Out is top-notch, battling mutated monsters, surviving with the online community, managing resources and health. It’s a game that I still play daily and remain satisfied with the experiences it brings, all at the price of… zero dollars.
