The newly launched iPhone SE has dimensions and an exterior almost identical to the iPhone 8 it replaces in Apple’s product line. Moreover, a new teardown clip shared on YouTube reveals that even the “interiors” of these two phones are nearly the same.
Discovered first by user Rice Cerva on Instagram, this video shows details from the disassembly process of the new iPhone SE. The interior reveals that this device is almost identical to the iPhone 8, with the main differences being the A13 processor, modem, and Wi-Fi chip, as well as the battery connector and flash design. Additionally, the rear camera module between these two devices also differs.
The components of these two devices are so similar that they can be swapped with each other while still functioning normally. The video not only dissects the interior of the new iPhone SE and compares it with the iPhone 8 but also tests swapping parts between them.
The results show that indeed many components can be interchanged and still allow the device to function normally. For example, the LCD screens of the iPhone SE and iPhone 8 can completely replace each other and still work, while the camera module cannot.
It is expected that the first orders of the iPhone SE will reach U.S. users starting today, April 24. After that, we will surely see more videos about this new iPhone.
