Here are 10 extremely annoying types of gamers from three genres: FPS, MMORPG, and MOBA that I’ve compiled based on personal experience. If you think I’ve missed any types, feel free to add!
FPS

Hackers and Cheaters
Historically, hacking and cheating have never gone out of style in FPS games. Most of today’s FPS titles have hacks; it’s just a matter of how frequently you encounter them. These hackers and cheaters seem uninterested in fair play according to game mechanics and resort to any means necessary just to win. Their joy doesn’t come from sportsmanship but from trampling over others. Generally, I’ve noticed two types of these players: one is the kind of person who feels inadequate in life and uses the game to “get back at the world,” and the other is someone who can’t stand being outplayed by more skilled players and thus resorts to cheating.
Game Saboteurs (Battle Royale)
Every game has this element, but the worst offenders are found in the battle royale genre. In this genre, a team usually consists of 3-4 players, so just one saboteur can heavily impact the overall outcome. Especially in games like PUBG, where players can eliminate teammates, these disrespectful individuals can be even more annoying. Sometimes it’s stray bullets, other times a grenade; anyone who has experienced this at least once will remember it with frustration.
Whiny Players (Battle Royale)
Having a girl on your team with a sweet voice whispering in your ear is great, right? And even if she’s not the best shot, her presence makes it easier for the guys on the team. However, this type of teammate isn’t necessarily annoying to all players; it can cause “extreme allergic reactions” among certain individuals, like skilled female gamers. For women who take pride in climbing the ranks through their own efforts, these “whiny players” can be extremely irritating, especially when they play poorly and frequently ask for help. I’ve heard this line more than once while gaming with my close friend: “What’s wrong with being a girl? Are girls allowed to be bad at the game? Are we allowed to rely on others? Don’t we have self-respect?”
MMORPG

Instigators
This type of gamer jumps at the chance to provoke anyone who passes by. No matter who the opponent is, strong or weak, they can’t resist the urge to run over and throw a few punches. These players enjoy the thrill of bullying the weaker ones and frustrating the stronger ones. If you’ve ever been on a mission and found yourself interrupted by these instigators looking for a fight, wasting your time and making you furious, you know how annoying these “instigators” can be.
Hardcore Players
In MMORPGs, there are always players who are extremely hardcore and serious about the game, investing a lot of time and resources. Their characters are often very strong and are referred to as “experts” by others. However, among experts, there are always those who misuse their power to bully weaker players. Like in martial arts stories, these players should be considered as the ultimate bullies. Killing indiscriminately, disrupting farming spots, stealing loot, and so on. The entire “gaming community” despises these types, but hardly anyone can do anything about them. Essentially, they behave like school bullies.
Love Scammers
This type always exists in MMORPGs. These players often create beautiful female characters, play cutesy classes, and dress femininely to lure younger, naive players. Asking for money, items, or even farm spots… In general, these players are quite perverted and find pleasure in tricking gullible players of their own gender. They can remain hidden for a while, but once exposed, they face extreme disdain from the community.
To be honest, when I play games, I always create beautiful female characters and dress them in flashy outfits, but at least I never use them to scam others.
MOBA

AFK Players
This type is classic. When you’re in a crucial match and someone goes AFK, it’s infuriating. There are many reasons for going AFK – it could be due to connection issues, or it could be the device, but it still frustrates the rest of the team. However, if it’s just an accident, people might not dislike AFK players so much. Some players go AFK at the slightest provocation, whether they can’t contest a lane, lose a lane, argue with teammates, or even say, “I can AFK if I want to.”
Keyboard Warriors
MOBA games provide a perfect environment for keyboard warriors, thanks to their slower pace and many idle moments like moving, returning home, or waiting for minions. Some “heroes” are even willing to stay at home just to spam the chat with insults aimed at both teammates and enemies. These players are very competitive; once they enter a match, they must be better than everyone else, sometimes prioritizing trash talk over winning.
Leeches
No genre features leeches more than MOBA. As long as your team is winning, these players will start spamming the all chat to taunt the opposing team while contributing little themselves. Anyone who plays League of Legends is probably familiar with phrases like “stupid”, “dumb as hell”, “noob” from a player with a KDA that’s worse than anyone on the enemy team, especially when your base is being destroyed.
Overbearing Advisors
This world always has some players who think they know better than everyone else and enjoy directing others. In MOBA games, they have even more opportunities to shine. They offer their “genius strategies” by constantly pinging and spamming the chat. “Build this item”, “attack like that”, “let’s ambush here”, “why didn’t you save me”, “support is dumb”… are common phrases that help you identify the “Overbearing Advisors”. They usually play quite well but are extremely toxic towards teammates who perform worse than they do. They always consider themselves “superior” and never make mistakes. If any teammate disobeys them or makes a mistake, they will continuously berate and analyze their actions. With just one player like this on your team, it becomes challenging to enjoy the match, no matter how well it is going.
