In the booming era of the streaming profession today, many gamers are trying every possible way to build a stable career on platforms like YouTube, Twitch, and Mixer. Viewers, therefore, have a plethora of streaming channels to comfortably choose from, which means that streamers who fail to maintain the quality of their channels will quickly lose their followers.

Due to the constant pressure to find new and exciting content to keep viewers engaged, many streamers have resorted to tricks to gain profit, and some have even resorted to outright lies to achieve their goals. The following examples highlight the most blatant lies from streamers, regardless of their intentions.

RealMKTomBrady MIA Misuses Fans’ Donation Money

In December 2019, the YouTube channel theScore esports published a video about Tom Brady, a professional gamer accused of deceiving his fans to receive donations from them. Brady, primarily streaming Mortal Kombat on Twitch at the time, called on people to donate enough money for him to attend a tournament in Philadelphia. His generous fans raised around $600 to help Brady, but he never participated in any tournament in Philadelphia as promised.

Following this incident, Brady’s fans were extremely frustrated and wanted him to refund their money. However, Brady claimed he had spent all the money and could not return it. The gamer explained that he used the funds for hotel costs, travel, and other expenses. Yet, according to esports escore, Brady had presented fake receipts to prove he had been to Philadelphia, which was confirmed when another gamer revealed that Brady admitted to him that he had forged the receipts, and the donation money had been spent with fans receiving nothing in return.

Professional Fortnite Player – RizArt Deceives Everyone to Earn the “Prodigy” Label

Japanese professional gamer RizArt drew international media attention in November 2018 after setting a new record in Fortnite, which doubled his YouTube channel subscribers to 187,000 at that time.

RizArt claimed he was only 12 years old when he set the record, but a few months later, he confessed he was actually 16 and issued an apology. The Japanese gamer admitted that his youthful appearance led him to deceive others to be seen as a prodigy in the gaming community. RizArt expressed genuine remorse and stated he had not found peace of mind since lying. To regain people’s trust, after apologizing, this young gamer donated the money he earned from YouTube over three months to charity.

Fortunately for RizArt, most fans recognized his regret and forgave him. Additionally, RizArt did not face any other trouble since Fortnite does not have age requirements for competitions in Japan.

Amouranth Lies to Film in Restricted Areas

During a Twitch stream in mid-2019, Amouranth filmed herself shopping when a staff member asked her if she was filming. She lied and said she was just video calling a friend. This caught the attention of the subreddit r/LivestreamFail, where fans pointed out her actions violated Twitch rules and urged other Redditors to report her.

This wasn’t the first time Amouranth faced trouble for filming in restricted areas. In 2018, a YouTube channel named Epic Highlights 64 released a video of Amouranth attempting to livestream in a gym and getting caught by staff. After being asked to stop, the female streamer persisted in trying to continue filming until gym staff had to ask Amouranth to move to a wall to film. Ultimately, the streamer complied, but she told her viewers, “I went to the gym just to get to know everyone there better, but got kicked out for being discriminated against.”
