Recently, the name Minh Hieu has emerged in the online community as a phenomenon, attracting millions of views and public interest through her livestream clips. Her follower count rivals that of A-list stars in showbiz.
It is known that Minh Hieu is one of the transgender individuals in Vietnam. She captivates the public with her charming humor and eloquent speaking style. Despite her age, Minh Hieu remains beautiful. Audiences are accustomed to calling her “Ms. Minh Hieu”.
Ms. Minh Hieu is also at the forefront of many hot trends online, attracting many famous personalities like Ngoc Trinh and Erik to follow her lead.
Recently, at the event “Night of Martial Arts”, Ms. Minh Hieu shared a few things about her life with the public.
Ridiculed on the street, looked down upon, having to work various jobs to make a living and build a wealthy life
According to Ms. Minh Hieu, her wealthy life today did not come easily but was the result of a long and difficult journey. She confided:
“People keep saying I’m rich, but they don’t know I’m already 46 years old this year; it hasn’t just come naturally. For the past 30 years, I’ve worked incredibly hard to achieve what I have today.
In the past, I was very poor and miserable. When I was 15 or 16, I was already acting a bit feminine, only playing with girls at school, not with boys. I had the spirit of a girl, so I played jump rope and built huts.
As I grew older, I started to draw on lipstick, shape my eyebrows, and paint my nails, letting my hair grow long. When I went to get my ID card, the police cut my long hair before allowing me to do it, and I cried for several days and nights.
A few years later, I continued to grow my hair long. My mom was afraid of how people would perceive me, so she forced me to marry a woman, but I refused. Honestly, every time I saw a girl, I fainted right away. I left home, rented my own place, and started dressing like a girl from then on.
During the time I left home, I had to work all sorts of jobs, from harvesting rice, selling lottery tickets, trading duck feathers, to selling rambutan and fruits to survive daily. I also dropped out of school. I had to work hard in various jobs like that to achieve my current status.
Back then, when I went out, I was ridiculed, laughed at, and looked down upon because I was both poor and of a different gender. Whenever they saw me, they would shout ‘there goes a gay guy’. That’s why I had to be determined to escape poverty and build my career.
In general, behind my wealth is a long, arduous journey filled with hardships and struggles, not something that just happened as people say. Today, I am very proud of what I have achieved.
Of course, my mother left me 100 gold bars before she passed, worth over 4 billion VND. Thanks to that gold, I could build a hotel worth around 4 billion VND.
But even without those 100 gold bars, I would still be rich. My savings are enough to buy 7 pieces of land.”
Ms. Minh Hieu also shared her secret to wearing a lot of gold without fear of being robbed:
“Currently, I wear a lot of gold wherever I go. I’m not afraid of being robbed because if I were, I wouldn’t wear it. In my opinion, even if someone tried to rob me, they wouldn’t be able to take my gold because it would take a long time to break. I’m only afraid of falling and dying.

My experience when in crowded places is to wear big heavy bracelets, so no one can rob me. The more I wear, the heavier and more secure it is; wearing a few thin chains is easy to steal. That’s my motto.”
Sad because of prank calls
As a person of the third gender, Ms. Minh Hieu has faced many challenges in her love life, having been betrayed multiple times. She tearfully shared:
“When I was younger, I liked many boys; as soon as I saw a handsome guy, I liked him, and my heart would race. However, back then, I was naïve. I remember once I fell for a man, and when he left me for a wife, I cried so much that I wanted to take poison and end my life.
Now, I’ve learned from experience to avoid suffering anymore. Whoever I love, even if they haven’t left me, as soon as I sense they are getting bored, I automatically leave first. I have to make them suffer for me.
In the past, I used to cry alone, especially every time my boyfriend left. But now I don’t cry anymore. I’ve become much wiser.”
Recently, Ms. Minh Hieu has gained significant fame as a phenomenon. This has brought her many troubles, but she still enjoys it and even wants to enter showbiz. She stated frankly.

“Recently, I’ve become famous on social media, so I have many crazy fans. Some are so obsessed that I can’t even imagine, they tell me: ‘I’m so obsessed with you that I hear your voice echoing in my ears when I sleep, am I sick?’ I replied, ‘You’re crazy.’
Many of them even call me continuously, and as soon as I pick up the phone, they hang up. This makes me quite sad.
However, having so many crazy fans also makes me happy. I really cherish my fans. Now that I have real money, I live very simply, so I care for every fan. Anyone who comes to my house, I make them drinks. For those who come from afar, I buy food for them.
Many people ask me if I want to enter showbiz with my newfound fame. I always say I want to enter showbiz, and whenever I have the opportunity, I will. Now, if anyone invites me to act in a movie, I will do it; if any gameshow invites me, I will go and I won’t ask for a high fee.”
