There’s no denying that high school love is one of the purest and sweetest feelings in everyone’s life. However, sometimes parents prohibit us from dating out of concern that it might distract us from our studies. Yet, there are also examples that prove the opposite; love can motivate white-shirt couples to study harder, as they don’t want to fall behind their partner. Just looking at your loved one can inspire you to strive for better grades than before!
The couple Thành – Trang (Hanoi) is a prime example of how being in love can elevate academic performance. Both born in 2002, they recently graduated from high school and are about to face one of the most important exams of their lives.

Their romantic journey has also been quite rocky. In 10th grade, they became acquainted after participating in an event for new students at school. Thành recounted:
“After a while of chatting, we agreed to date. But to be honest, I didn’t think it was love back then because I was quite indifferent and inattentive, which led to my being ‘dumped’ by her. I was apathetic, so I just accepted it. Now, I see that was a bit of a mistake, but I’m also lucky because that was a necessary step for us to get to where we are now.
After that relationship, I tried to date a few other girls during 11th grade, but I realized no one could compare to her. So by the end of 11th grade, I made an effort to reconnect with her, but she really disliked me. The worst part was I found out she had a new boyfriend. Oh! My heart was shattered!”

During the summer of 11th grade heading into 12th, Thành heard that Trang had broken up with her boyfriend. Moreover, he learned from a male friend that it was his fault, which made Thành even more determined to win her back from the start.
“With the hard lesson from 10th grade, this time I paid more attention to her, so she agreed to be friends again, and didn’t hate me anymore. But it took several months before she agreed to get back together with me. As of the day of the university entrance exam on August 10, it’s been exactly one year,” Thành shared.
Remarkably, the couple’s academic results remained exceptionally good, even improving: “In 10th and 11th grades, my average score was only 8.3 – 8.4, but after nearly a year of dating her, my overall score this year is 9.4. As for her, there’s no need to say; she’s the top student in the class across all subjects, so I have to keep up or else people will say we’re not a match.”

Regarding future plans, Thành mentioned he is considering studying abroad while Trang wants to attend Hanoi Medical University, but he added: “I will always strive to see your smile because you look the most beautiful when you smile, radiating a wonderful brightness.”.
No one can predict the future, but one thing is certain: they will always be a beautiful part of each other’s student life.
