On the afternoon of December 1, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long chaired a meeting about the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
The Minister reported that 2 more COVID-19 infection cases have been recorded from Patient 1347. They are a 1-year-old male patient and a student of Patient 1347.
Specifically, the male patient, aged 1, is from District 6, Ho Chi Minh City. The patient has a history of close contact with Patient 1347 on November 22, 23, 25, and 27 (the patient’s parents sent him to Patient 1347 for babysitting).
On November 30, after learning that Patient 1347 tested positive, the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control and Prevention investigated and took the boy and his mother into concentrated isolation at Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital, while the boy’s father and family members were quarantined at home. The boy was tested and found positive for SARS-CoV-2 on the night of November 30.

The other case is a 28-year-old female student, who is a student of Patient 1347. Through investigation and tracing, 9 people who had close contact with this female student have been quarantined and are awaiting testing.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Long emphasized that Patient 1342 was the first case to transmit COVID-19 from the quarantine area; after returning home, this patient infected Patient 1347. Since Patient 1347, there have been 2 other infected patients.
Thus, after nearly 90 days without any new cases, on November 30, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 4 new cases, including 1 case transmitted from the quarantine area (Patient 1342) and 3 cases transmitted in the community, including Patient 1347.
Additionally, Mr. Long emphasized that Patients 1347 and 1342 did not comply with home quarantine measures. Specifically, Patient 1342 seriously violated COVID-19 prevention measures at the concentrated quarantine area and requested strict handling according to regulations.
