Recently, the Vietnamese online community was stirred up after witnessing a short clip on TikTok featuring a particularly ridiculous challenge by a guy. For some unknown reason, whether to test the honesty of other customers or not, he suddenly decided to pretend to place his phone on the conveyor belt of a hotpot restaurant. According to him, this was a way to sit nervously and watch the unfolding drama, guessing whether the phone would end up on the floor, in someone else’s hotpot, or “vanish” unexpectedly, or perhaps he would retrieve it after a spin.

It’s unclear if he had high hopes, but the outcome was certainly surprising for everyone. Specifically, instead of a whole phone, all that was left was simply a phone case, while the phone itself had mysteriously disappeared. This was the result of a foolish prank.

Many might think that the guy in the clip was being incredibly reckless by setting up such a silly challenge. But don’t be mistaken; it was actually just a staged act. Very quickly, those with keen eyes re-watched the clip and quickly discovered the trick of this young man. It turns out the mistake in this clip was when he placed the phone on the conveyor; it was initially upright, but when it returned, it was lying face down. Upon closer inspection, it actually hadn’t gone anywhere and was still on the table beside him.

Even shortly after, the main guy in the clip stated that it was all just a fun joke, pretending to lose his phone. However, this explanation quickly incited outrage within the online community. Many people even became furious, claiming that such actions were extremely inconsiderate, unsanitary, rude, and inappropriate. Many criticized him for deliberately clickbaiting, chasing views and interactions, which could easily mislead other diners around him.
