A man in Chuzhou (Hunan, China) spent over 500,000 yuan (equivalent to over 1.8 billion VND) of his savings to gift a female streamer he is infatuated with. The situation only came to light when a relative accidentally saw him on a livestream continuously sending virtual gifts.

Accordingly, the entire family was shocked to discover that the 62-year-old man had squandered his entire savings of over 500,000 yuan in just three months. Not stopping there, he also borrowed an additional 100,000 yuan (about 370 million VND) to continue “throwing money” through the screen.
During the investigation, the family found a message where the man told the female streamer that he had run out of money. However, shortly after, he borrowed more to continue supporting the streamer. His daughter tearfully shared: “My father has spent all the money that he and my mother worked hard for over the years. Just a few calls of ‘brother’ from girls online and that money has vanished. I really can’t believe it.”

In the process of burning money for beautiful girls, the 62-year-old man received a massage chair – a gift of gratitude from one of the female streamers he liked. Not knowing how to handle the gift, he gave it to his wife and lied that it was a surprise gift. His wife, in an interview, repeatedly stated: “He can spend money however he wants, but the shared assets must be returned.”

According to a lawyer, based on a similar case adjudicated by the Supreme People’s Court (China) in March 2025, the act of gifting to a female streamer without the wife’s consent, along with private conversations and images exchanged, may be considered a violation of morality. Therefore, the gifted amount could be demanded back.
A representative from the livestream platform also commented on the incident, stating that this behavior violates the platform’s regulations. They also affirmed that disciplinary action would be taken against the involved female streamer. Additionally, the platform noted that refunds are entirely possible as this is the couple’s shared property.

In the end, the man regretted and apologized to his wife: “I’m sorry, dear. I promise to treat you better from now on.”
