For a long time, orangutans have been regarded as one of the most “intelligent” animals, closely related to humans in terms of genetic makeup. And although there are many things humans surpass these creatures in, when it comes to strength and endurance, we are definitely not worthy opponents for orangutans. This is further highlighted in the solo pull-up challenge below between an orangutan and a well-known male gymnast.

Of course, when it comes to pull-ups, no one in the world can be more confident than gymnasts, as this is considered one of the basic exercises that they must train continuously throughout their careers. In contrast, for orangutans, swinging on trees has already become a natural behavior. This match seemed quite balanced, but in the end, the differences were surprisingly stark.

The rules are very simple: both the gymnast and the orangutan need to hang onto a pull-up bar that is 3 meters high. Whoever stays up longer is the winner. Initially, the gymnast entered the challenge with a fairly relaxed and confident smile. But after more than a minute, the difference became apparent. While the gymnast had to constantly rest his arms, the orangutan seemed very calm, and it appeared they were not exerting much effort at all.
As time went on, the gymnast’s face gradually showed pain and struggle. After 6 minutes and 30 seconds, the winner was determined to be the aforementioned orangutan.
Although this video has been around since 2004 and was directed by FOX television, many netizens still seem quite amused to witness this remarkable showdown. According to some, this outcome was unavoidable given the differences in muscle development between animals and humans. At the same time, a word of praise should be given to the gymnast, as he managed to hang on for at least 6 and a half minutes.
