HHT – Social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter are convenient tools for artists to promote their new products. However, they also bring many negative influences that lead artists to stop using them.
Ariana Grande
In a recent livestream, Nicki Minaj shared that someone she cares about will no longer use Twitter due to the negative comments on the platform. Although she did not reveal the name of this person, the online community easily guessed that it was Ariana Grande.

Ariana Grande’s Twitter account has been deleted by her since 2021 and there has been no sign of it coming back. Before arriving at this decision, she had to disable comments on Twitter after being accused of cultural appropriation. On another occasion, her post celebrating her Grammy win for the collaboration Rain On Me also received thousands of negative comments. Many opinions suggested that Ariana Grande’s victory was not deserved.
Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez was once dubbed the “Instagram Queen,” being the first star to reach 100 million followers on the platform. Currently, each of Selena Gomez’s promotional posts is worth up to $1.46 million (about 33 billion VND). However, the Disney princess no longer uses Instagram or any other social media accounts. Current posts are managed by her team to update her schedule and promote related activities of the singer.

Selena Gomez stated that using social media had a negative impact on her mental health: “Quitting social media has made my life better than ever. I no longer care about what is happening in the music industry. While this may not make everyone happy, it has saved my life.” It has been over 4 years since the singer decided to focus on her life rather than what is happening on social media.
Tom Holland
Recently, Tom Holland shared that he will be stepping away from social media for a while. The actor has been feeling down and under psychological pressure from the posts about him: “I feel overwhelmed by what they say about me on social media, it affects my mental health significantly.” Nevertheless, Spider-Man expressed his gratitude to the fans who have always supported him before stepping away from social media platforms.

Taylor Swift
In 2016, millions of “snake emojis” and the hashtag #TaylorSwiftIsOverParty were thrown onto Taylor Swift’s personal page, leading to a boycott campaign against the singer following the uproar with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. In the face of the online community’s outrage, the singer of Look What You Made Me Do hid all her social media accounts and completely disappeared from the media for a long period.

Currently, although she has been exonerated and is active on social media platforms, the singer still has comments disabled on her Instagram.
Ed Sheeran
In 2017, Ed Sheeran deleted his personal Twitter account. The singer believed that Twitter was always filled with comments that negatively impacted him. Previously, Ed Sheeran faced accusations of lip-syncing at a concert and received severe backlash on Twitter.

Additionally, the singer of Shape Of You also faced many negative comments aimed at him when he was invited to make a guest appearance in the hit TV series Game Of Thrones. The sudden deletion of his Twitter account surprised some fans, but a section of the singer’s fanbase believed he had hinted at this long before. Currently, Ed Sheeran’s Twitter account has returned and is updating about his music releases and concert nights.
