Toxic Money-Making Mindset
Recently, a video went viral on social media where a girl with the YouTube account named K. (28 years old) shared her method of making money on Tinder. The video was posted on December 8, 2022, titled “Times I Made Money on Tinder”.
To kick off her content, K. stated: “Actually, many people wonder how I have been able to live in Hanoi all these years without a job. How do I cover all my daily expenses? So I want to say that one way I make money is through Tinder and dating apps. I want to share it here so you know how I used to live.”
Next, K. asserted that she doesn’t have good looks, doesn’t know how to take photos, and is afraid of the camera, so on her Tinder account, she uses funny memes and a cheerful description that showcases her fun personality. The goal of this is to have an eye-catching and standout account to attract humorous, wealthy, or educated people.
“I can only use everything I have and push all my capabilities to make money. Because I have to live, right? I can’t live without money,” K. stated confidently.

More specifically, K. shared 4 ways she makes money on Tinder.
1/ Daily Money
According to K., these are daily amounts. For example, when meeting someone, she would tell them to cover her expenses or say, “I don’t have cash here; can you lend me 200k, and I can transfer it back?” She mentioned that sometimes it’s 200k, sometimes 500k, and not a single guy has ever asked her to transfer the money back.
“If I meet one person every day or every two days, I can make a few million a month. That’s enough to eat, right? So that’s daily money, and I have to take the initiative. If I swipe and meet many people, I’ll have even more money like that,” she explained.
2/ Money for Writing Profiles or Chatting
In this category, K. revealed that she would help others write attractive profiles to attract more girls, such as which photos to use and how to write descriptions that girls would like. Once she finishes writing, people are willing to transfer money to thank her.
Another person admitted to not being good at talking to girls, so they asked K. to swipe Tinder for them and flirt… This person didn’t pay her but sent her a lot of fruits and snacks every day. “During that month, I always had plenty of food, so much that I had to share it with people around me,” K. said.
3/ Money That Falls from the Sky
K. stated that this money isn’t regular but comes at just the right times, like a divine intervention to help her survive.
“I remember once I met someone at a café, and they texted me saying, ‘I’m going to be late; can you wait for me?’ I told them that if they were late, I would charge them, at 100,000 per minute. They ended up being 30 minutes late and gave me 3 million.”
She recounted that it was a time when she had no money and desperately needed it to survive. After the meeting, this man suggested they continue seeing each other, and K. would earn more money, but she declined.
4/ Tet Money
This is the money K. earns every Tet holiday, especially after Tet. After Tet, during the days when everyone returns to work, K. swipes Tinder the most and matches with as many people as possible.
In each meeting during this time, she prepares a stack of lucky money envelopes, stuffing each with 20,000, and proactively gives lucky money to the other person. They are often surprised and will give her lucky money back, with the amount being at least 200k and possibly up to 1 million. “I put in 20 thousand and get back 500 thousand. The more people I meet, the more money I make. After each Tet, I can also earn a few million to keep living,” she shared.
To sum up, she mentioned that she has many more ways to earn money through Tinder, such as people who haven’t met her, don’t know who she is, what she looks like, but still transfer money.
With a proud tone, K. affirmed that not everyone can apply this method, as it requires a combination of factors such as assessing potential targets and the timing of when to say something. “It’s something that I was born with. I can sense which targets are potential, who might be receptive to certain lines, and who I can talk to—everything stems from my ability to communicate,” she concluded.
Outrage from Netizens
Although the clip has been around for nearly 4 months, it has only recently gained attention from netizens, and most comments are extremely outraged and condemnatory. They believe K. is promoting a toxic money-making mindset, living off others and finding ways to extract money from people. Young girls who are unaware of right and wrong are easily led astray and make mistakes.
Some comments from netizens:
– I hoped by the end of the video you’d learn something, but no, you are proud of yourself and your actions. I don’t usually attack others on social media, but your case is one I can’t ignore. Why? Because you are completely wrong, from your actions to your mindset. Don’t you see the wrong in your actions and yet you’re proud of yourself? Your actions only prove that you are cheap; you aren’t earning legitimate money, but rather through deceit and trickery. I hope you’ll reflect on your actions and consider if creating content like this to gain a bit of fame for your channel is worth it? Or will you lose yourself and your self-respect for a few views?
– Don’t go on YouTube and teach other girls how to make money like this. It’s better to spend time meeting someone incompatible but to leave with dignity and self-respect than to calculate a few coins and dream of meeting rich men like you.
– I’m really worried about my daughter living in a society with women like you.
– Profiting off the sweat and tears of others is just like being a parasite. Others can work without hands or legs, while you, with full capabilities, consider money from dating as your primary income—then that’s just unacceptable.
– To call it gold-digging is to insult gold diggers. What are you proud of with these kinds of actions?
Currently, the clip continues to attract significant attention and ongoing discussions among netizens.
