Making money on YouTube is truly becoming a career pursued by many. New channels are constantly being launched, and many YouTubers frequently update and upload daily video clips to attract more followers. The topics that these content creators explore are also very diverse and rich, with many conveying positive life messages.
However, alongside such bright colors, there is no shortage of silly, negative clips flooding YouTube. A segment of YouTubers is disregarding everything, doing anything to generate profit. Challenges such as spending 24 hours as a dog, eating bricks, bathing in shrimp paste… are rampant. Although this platform has taken many strict measures to improve quality, nonsensical channels are still flourishing. Among them, the YouTube channel of NTN has recently become a name that is causing outrage and calls for a boycott due to its continuous upload of distasteful challenge clips.

Specifically, on December 23, 2019, Nguyễn Thành Nam – the owner of the YouTube channel “NTN Vlog” uploaded a clip titled “3-Day Challenge in the Graveyard for 100 Million (5000$ For Living 3 Days In The Graveyard). In this 24-minute video, Nam and his friends go to a cemetery. Nam sets a challenge: three people will sit in three red-painted circles, and whoever stays in the circle the longest will receive a reward of 100 million. The rest of the clip features a series of silly pranks such as throwing candy at a Coca-Cola bottle to earn money, setting up dominoes, scaring each other, and laughing. All these actions take place in a cemetery—a place that should only be visited for memorial purposes, not for jokes or antics.

Immediately after that, another distasteful challenge was created by Nguyễn Thành Nam, recorded, and uploaded to his channel: “Challenge Riding a Bike on Super Slippery Oil.” Following the same extremely ridiculous pattern, Nam and his friends pour a lot of dish soap onto the front yard and see who can ride a bike on such a slippery surface. A truly meaningless challenge that could be dangerous for anyone attempting to replicate it.

These are just two out of many “challenges” that NTN and his team have uploaded to YouTube, which are both absurd and dangerous. Previous content released by this guy has made many people feel disgusted: “Try lighting fireworks and dropping them into a Coca-Cola bottle,” “dropping 100 knives from a height,” or “trying to burn 100,000 matches in a toilet.” These are all completely pointless clips, aimed solely at gaining as many views as possible to make money. All the materials that Nguyễn Thành Nam uses to carry out these challenges are non-reusable, leading to waste and environmental pollution. Despite widespread opposition and insults, this guy remains indifferent, disregarding everything to achieve his goals.

One of the reasons that concerns the community is that the number of subscribers to NTN Vlogs continues to increase, including many who are not of legal age. The meaningless challenges on the NTN Vlogs channel will not be harmless if a child watches and attempts to replicate them. Hopefully, in the near future, Nguyễn Nam, along with other YouTubers who have been uploading distasteful content, will change their mindset and approach to content creation, steering towards more positive themes. Remember, every piece of content they convey has an impact. Live responsibly towards society.
