Products from a Famous YouTuber Group
Rising to fame 5 years ago with short clips following the motif of a poor impersonating chairman being looked down upon… and the outcome, a video production group captured significant attention. The group’s clips frequently appear on the trending tab of YouTube Vietnam, and the channel quickly achieved a gold button with millions of subscribers.
Exploiting Controversial Themes
After some time, these videos labeled as “short films” often exploit themes such as: infidelity, prostitution, workplace harassment, jealousy, social evils, marital intimacy… The scripts are considered simple, often illogical, and even accused of plagiarizing ideas, but because they strike a chord with feelings of resentment and class discrimination… combined with social media algorithms, these products easily trend.
Their “content creation” formula involves using nonsensical scripts, inviting amateur actors to perform, then editing and posting with sensational titles to quickly attract viewer attention. Many clips reach millions of views.
To grab attention and increase interactions, the situations are intentionally escalated. However, the film’s details are unrealistic, lacking cultural and educational value, and are even offensive. On average, each uploaded video has thousands of interactions, but the number of comments expressing outrage from audiences is significant.
Despite the wave of controversy, such videos continue to be produced and widely shared to the extent that netizens wonder why such content still exists. In the comments, viewers passionately express their opinions:
“It’s sad, content like that still gets millions of views”;
“No shame. As long as there are viewers, they will keep making it”;
“Trash channel. As long as they still get over 1 million interactions, they will keep doing it. What does it matter”…
Not to mention, the lack of strict control in screening, the spread of harmful videos makes it easy for children to access, raising concerns about negatively impacting young audiences.
