14-Year-Old Donates 170 Million to Female Streamer
Mr. Truong, who specializes in selling electronic devices, often lets his son help him check inventory using his personal phone. Recently, after a workday, he discovered a record of an expenditure of about 50,000 yuan (175 million VND) on a livestreaming platform on his phone. When he asked his 14-year-old son, the boy admitted to using his father’s phone to donate money to a female streamer.

Family’s Secret Revealed Because of Donation to Female Streamer
After the incident, he asked his son, “You can watch livestreams, but why spend so much money on a female streamer?” The boy replied that he had seen his father playing livestreams and asked whether giving many gifts would cost a lot of money. He had answered that playing this game does not cost money, and the money spent would be “refunded.”
In reality, the incident left the father embarrassed as it revealed that he had spent about 200,000 yuan (nearly 800 million VND) each year, totaling around 1 million yuan to date. The actual refunds were very minimal.
Nevertheless, this parent still felt frustrated: “I have been playing livestreams, watching female streamers, and donating money for many years, but I have never complained to the platform because I am an adult and responsible for my actions. However, this time, my son spent money without my knowledge, so I feel the need to protect my rights.”
After receiving Mr. Truong’s complaint, the livestreaming platform is verifying the information with the female streamer. If the conditions are met, they will process the refund.
After speaking with the reporter, Mr. Truong shared that the incident not only embarrassed him but also aimed to warn other parents so they do not encounter a similar situation.
A Father’s Assertion
Impact on His Son
Father Realizes Responsibility
Over the past four years, he has continuously played livestreams and now he realizes that his son’s behavior has been influenced by his actions. He admits that he has not done well in his role as a father.
When the reporter asked, “How much money have you spent over the years?” Inquiring about his child’s academic performance, Mr. Truong stated, “My child is not doing very well in school.” He also admitted: “I have thought about the impact on my child. There were times I limited him, for example, if he didn’t perform well or behaved poorly that week, I wouldn’t let him have the phone.”
Complicated Complaint Process
After the incident occurred, Mr. Truong reported the situation to 12345. He received a call from the cultural department of the livestreaming platform, who said they had spoken with the service provider. They asked him to submit a refund request on the relevant platform, and if approved, the money could be returned.
He stated: “The third-party platform requires me to upload documents like the household registration of both father and son. They also asked for a video explaining the entire situation. We need to clarify how my child downloaded this platform and which streamer he donated money to.”
Mr. Truong mentioned that due to concerns about providing the household registration, and after scolding his son, the boy went to live with his grandmother, making it impossible for them to record a video together to explain the situation. Therefore, he could not proceed with the next steps on the relevant platform.
